An entertaining thriller that tells its story in an intertwining way. Nothing is so straightforward in this film but Debbie Ocean has thought of everything and every possibility. I feel the film could have been a bit more exciting if the characters did have to face some challenges but everything was really easy for them.
The film was quite predictable at times. Specifically, the twist that involved Anne Hathaway’s character. The fact she didn’t tell the authorities that there was someone in the bathroom with her when she was throwing up sold it to me that she was in on it.
I loved the cast and that’s what sold it to me. I’m a feminist so an all-female cast is something I’m definitely not going to miss. There wasn’t an actress among the crew that I dislike. However, the characters lacked backstory and I get that it’s difficult to include a backstory for so many characters in such a short space of time but it just made it difficult to connect with them or relate to them. There wasn’t any depth to the film.
I believe the film should have been directed by a female. As a film that is female driven, I feel the film might have paid off more if it had a female director. It still felt like a very male film and that’s not what I was after when I found out it had an entirely female ensemble on the cast.
Once the heist was underway at the Met Gala, it became quite amusing because there were several cameos. There was Kim Kardashian, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova and many more. It was very strange seeing all these people pop up in the background of some of the shots.
It was great to see these women kick-ass and pull off an incredibly entertaining heist. There are some flaws but if you look past them, you’ll have a really enjoyable experience. I for one just really enjoyed watching these incredible actresses interact on screen. They were a delight to watch.
