What’s one of the most annoying things in TV? The cancellation of shows. It can be so frustrating, especially the cancellation of a show that has only had two seasons. A show that has broken ground and has been the most diverse TV show in the world. Was it cancelled too soon? Yes and no. This show could have gone on for a long time. It had a lot of gas. However, one of the things that ruin TV shows, is the length of them. The Walking Dead is a great example of a TV show that has just gone downhill because its been dragged out for far too long when it has nothing left in the tank. Sense8 still had stories to tell but we got two and a half hours to end the show the way it deserved and I’m so thankful for that. This way, the show ended on a high and it can never be ruined.
Sense8 was a show that shocked me on so many levels. It’s cinema at its finest but it’s on the small screen and that’s what makes it so damn good. The storytelling is so layered and sublime. The acting is extraordinary and the sheer diverse quality of the show makes it stand out from everything else. It opens your eyes to all kinds of relationships and it’s beautiful. For that, it’s a show every single person in the world needs to see.
Not to mention the camera work that goes into this. It’s brilliant. The masks in the editing are seamless and I often find myself in awe when watching this show because some of the shots it pulls out of the bag are just out of this world. The soundtrack has never disappointed, all the way from season one right through to the finale, it’s been perfect.
I never use the word perfect to describe a TV show or a movie but I am going to say it about this. It’s perfect. It’s complex. They travel all over the world to bring you different locations and cultures. Everything you could possibly ask for in a TV show is in this.
The finale was the perfect ending to an extraordinary show. It wasn’t rushed. There was time set aside for each character and coupling. There was the culmination of the war. There was happiness and laughter but also some sadness. When the credits rolled a little comment said “for the fans” and that really set me off. What a beautiful ending and it pleased me that they dedicated it to us because the only reason they got to finish this story was because we all signed a petition to bring the show back. Thank you to everyone who signed it. I really needed this show to get this ending, it really did deserve it.
I’m so thankful that this show was made in the first place. I believe its left its mark on the world and if you haven’t seen it yet, then what are you doing? Go and watch it now, it’s a unique experience and you won’t be disappointed.
