When something is really bigged up in the media, I avoid it the best I can. I don’t like things being shoved in my face and feeling like I have to watch or listen to something. When Deadpool came out, yes I loved it but it was everywhere and people were raving about it so much that I became sick of seeing it and hearing about it, that I now don’t like it and probably won’t ever watch it again. It became overrated.

Anyway, The Greatest Showman was everywhere and so I avoided it and didn’t want to see it. However, I watch The Graham Norton Show every week and Keala Settle was on it and performed This Is Me and I absolutely loved it. I started to listen to it on youtube and then I accidentally stumbled upon A Million Dreams and fell in love with that song too. Therefore, I had to watch it, I was fully obsessed with the soundtrack.

I’m a huge fan of American Horror Story and they had a season titled Freak Show and that was similar to this film and I think because I wasn’t a huge fan of that season, it put me off watching this. However, I loved the film, it’s empowering and there were so many moments where I got goosebumps. That’s when you know you’re watching something special. Every time Keala Settle sings This Is Me, it gets me every time. When she performed it at the Oscars, I welled up, it’s such a powerful song and she has a stunning voice.

I thought the entire cast was fantastic and they really brought the film to life. The soundtrack is just sensational. As I write this blog I’m listening to the soundtrack, I can’t get enough. The film is a pleasure to watch and it is an exceptional experience. Everyone, as I’m sure everybody already has, as I’m late to the party, should watch this film. It’s incredible.

When I saw the film the first weekend of February, I really enjoyed it. Now I can’t stop listening to the songs. The circus and dance elements were wonderful. Hugh Jackman shines as P.T. Barnum. It is such a wonderful film to watch. I wanted to watch the film due to me being a musical theatre fanatic.
