Plot: After his daughter disappears, a man recruits her awkward ex-boyfriend to help him track her down.
Director: Gavin Wiesen
Starring: J. K. Simmons, Emile Hirsch, Analeigh Tipton, Kristen Schaal.
I was in the mood for a comedy. That’s not what I got… The film wasn’t funny, I don’t think I laughed once. It was silly and the comedy didn’t work. It didn’t know how to be funny and that is down to the writers. Change the writer of the film and it could have been a hoot.
J. K. Simmons is the best part of the film and the most interesting and likeable character. Emile Hirsch plays the ex-boyfriend but he just wasn’t likeable. I found it hard to sympathise with him. I felt these two actors had chemistry which lifted the film a little but only a little. I also think Simmons is better than this film.
It is a film that didn’t need to be made!
