The trailer for this film is mesmerising and inspiring. The sound design and the fast edits were compelling. I knew I had to watch the film straight away, which I did. Although I think the trailer was better, I enjoyed watching the film. What makes it a great film is that it plays on real life fears. It’s a realistic film. I mean I can’t imagine going to a dinner party like this but I mean it could potentially happen. This is more likely to happen than some demon creature attacking everyone, anyway.
It’s a slowly paced film with a short running time which evens it out. It is a chilling picture that is a unique experience. I’ve never seen a film like this before. It’s only the last 15 minutes of the film where the action takes place and I can see why that would annoy some people but it really shouldn’t and here’s why…
It sets up the film really well. There are awkward social interactions between the guests. With that and the pace, it makes it feel more realistic. You see everything unfold and happen in the most realistic way. It sets up the tension and the suspense. The slowness of the film builds the mystery. It’s fantastic to watch.
A perfect mystery/suspense!
