It’s a really good premise and could have worked really well but the characters or maybe the actors let it down. Naomi Watts was incredible in the first two films and matured the stories. Whereas this one felt a lot like a teenage drama and I didn’t feel it fit because the first two films were good horror films. This one just wasn’t as smart. It had an entirely different feel. I think they should have left it with the first two films so I’m hoping they don’t make a fourth one because it will just get worse.
I liked the idea of having a new tape within the same tape and I think with the right cast and character development, the plot could have worked. It is entertaining enough to watch because you want to see how they’re going to survive. If you don’t compare this film to the first two and watch it as a stand-alone film then I think it is very enjoyable. If you watch this one without having seen the first two then I think you’d enjoy it a lot and wouldn’t be disappointed.
There are some very annoying characters, you can even find the main ones annoying at times. I’d recommend the first two films but once you’ve finished the second don’t watch this one. It’s not worth it.
Too much of a drag!
