I liked this film. I’m kind of 50/50 with it. It starts off really good and it is quite weird but once you embrace the weirdness the film flows. I got a bit bored somewhere in the middle but got back into it. It’s a really well directed film and I would definitely recommend it to people. Especially teenagers. I’m so pleased for the director as she is a female and the industry is short of female directors. I really hope she directs something else because I’d love to see more of her films.
Bel Powley, who plays the main character was great. I thought she looked familiar whilst watching it but I didn’t think anything of it until I’ve just searched her name and I can’t believe she’s the actress that played Daisy in M.I. High. She looks so different. She’s older now. As for Alexander Skarsgård, I first saw him in True Blood and I’ve followed all his films ever since. I didn’t like him in this but that’s because of the character, he was creepy and strange. He acted it perfectly.
I thought it was quite a beautiful film because of the era it was set it. It’s set in the 1970’s and I loved the fashion and the style. I think films that are made now that are set decades ago are done really well. The best part about this film is how honest it is and pure. This film is the type that we can all relate to in one way or another. It’s a unique film, I must see, in my opinion.
Now I’m going to go and watch another Alexander Skarsgård film in hopes I forget his creepy and unlikeable character in this 🙂
