Edward Scissorhands

Plot: A scientist creates a human being named Edward however, the scientist dies and Edward doesn’t have human hands. Instead, his hands are scissors. He lands himself a home in suburbia where he falls for a girl but still struggles to fit in as he is different.

Year: 1991

Director: Tim Burton

Starring: Johnny Depp, Winona Rider, Anthony Michael Hall and Dianne Wiest.

This is one of those films that I believe everyone should watch at least once. It’s so beautiful. Johnny Depp is amazing as usual. It’s so far from all his other roles as he doesn’t speak, he’s just sort of there but he plays the character perfectly. He really makes you fall in love with him and root for him. I love the scene where he cuts all the hedges. They portray suburbia in such a comical way. It really works, though. Like all the different colours of the houses and the cars, it’s so colourful. It’s delightful to watch and you will just love everything about this film.

I’ve probably expressed this before but if there’s one director I don’t like it’s Tim Burton. I mean he’s amazing and if you look at his films they’re so extravagant and unique. He’s got his own style and I respect that however, I can’t stand his style. I don’t like his films. I watched Edward Scissorhands when I was younger before I knew names of directors and I’m glad I did. I don’t think I’d watch this film now if I knew he was the director because I’d just think it’d be like his others. His films are obviously amazing, I love the fashion in them, it’s just the darkness and weirdness I can’t do. It’s strange and they just bore me, unfortunately.

Rating: 7/10.

Tomorrow I will be reviewing I am Legend 🙂

If anyone has any recommendations for films that I can watch and then review please leave them in the comments section. Thank you.
