Two men, George (Gary Sinise) and Lennie (John Malkovich) try to find work in California during the Great Depression. Lennie is a man who was kicked in the head by a horse which has caused him problems, he’s very childish now. They manage to find jobs on a ranch but there’s a beautiful woman and Lennie fixates on her which causes them problems. The film is based on the book by the same name by John Steinbeck.
I remember reading and then watching this film in English in high school and I enjoyed it. It’s a very sad film and it’s definitely worth watching and reading in my opinion. Read the book first. I recently re-watched this film as I’ve chosen to use it for one of presentations for uni and I think it’s a good choice because there’s so much that I can analyse about it.
I think the acting in this film especially John Malkovich was really amazing. He played the perfect Lennie in my eyes. I feel both main actors played the characters justice to the book and that’s why it works so well I think.
